BCS UG takes its obligation to the environment very seriously.
For this reason, we are informing you below on the subject of battery and old device disposal.

A. Notes on battery disposal

In connection with the sale of batteries or the delivery of devices that contain batteries, we are obliged to draw your attention to the following:

Batteries contain valuable raw materials that are harmful to the environment, but can be recycled. Old batteries must therefore not end up in the ordinary household waste, but must be disposed of separately.

As the end user, you are legally obliged to return used batteries. You can return old batteries that we have or have carried in our range as new batteries free of charge to our dispatch warehouse (BCS UG, Andreasstrasse 5, D-59929 Brilon).
Alternatively, end users can also return old batteries to municipal collection points or recycling centers or anywhere in stores where batteries / rechargeable batteries are sold.
The symbols shown on the batteries have the following meaning:

The symbol of the crossed-out wheeled bin means that the battery must not be disposed of with household waste.

Pb = battery contains more than 0,004 mass percent lead.
Cd = battery contains more than 0,002 percent by mass of cadmium.
Hg = battery contains more than 0,002 percent by mass of mercury.

Please note the above information for environmentally friendly disposal.

B. Notes on the disposal of old devices (electrical and electronic devices)

The Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) contains a large number of requirements for handling electrical and electronic equipment. The most important are listed here.

1. Separate collection of old devices
Electrical and electronic equipment that has become waste is called old equipment. Owners of old appliances have to provide them with a separate collection of unsorted municipal waste. In particular, old appliances are not in the household waste, but in special collection and return systems.

2. Batteries and rechargeable batteries
Owners of old devices have to separate old batteries and accumulators, which are not enclosed by the old device, from the old device before handing them over to a collection point.

3. Possibilities of returning old equipment
Owners of old devices from private households can hand them in at the collection points of the public waste disposal authorities or at the collection points set up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG. An online directory of the collection and return points can be found here: https://www.ear-system.de/earverzeichnis/sammel-und-ruecknahmestellen.jsf

4. Privacy information
Old devices often contain sensitive personal information. This applies in particular to information and telecommunications equipment such as computers and smartphones. Please note in your own interest that each end user is responsible for the deletion of the data on the waste equipment to be disposed of.

5. Meaning of the symbol "crossed out garbage can"
The symbol of a crossed-out wheelie bin regularly shown on the electrical and electronic equipment

points out that at the end of its service life the respective device must be recorded separately from unsorted municipal waste.

6. Advice on waste prevention
According to the provisions of Directive 2008/98 / EU on waste and its implementation in the legislation of the member states of the European Union, waste prevention measures generally have priority over waste management measures. Waste prevention measures for electrical and electronic equipment include, in particular, extending their service life by repairing defective equipment and selling used equipment that is in good working order instead of sending it for disposal. The federal waste prevention program with the participation of the federal states contains further information:

8. What does that mean for you

  1. when handing over a new electrical or electronic device to an end user, to take back an old device of the end user of the same type of device, which essentially fulfills the same functions as the new device, free of charge at the place of the handover or in the immediate vicinity thereof, and
  2. Old devices that are not larger than 25 cm in any external dimension can be taken back free of charge in household quantities either in the retail shop or in the immediate vicinity. The return of the devices is not linked to the purchase of an electrical or electronic device.

Which electrical and electronic devices are covered by this regulation can be found in the device list in Appendix 1 to the ElektroG.

You have the following options for returning your old device:

  • Old devices can be handed in at the collection points of the public waste disposal authorities or at the collection points set up by manufacturers and distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG.
An online directory of collection and return points can be found here:

  • BCS UG fulfills its take-back obligation towards you under the ElektroG. So simply send us your old device back.
  • You can of course also hand in your waste electrical equipment directly to us on site.
